Holy is the leaf that, now wholly yellow, lets itself fall onto the crackling bed of those that went before it. Holy too is the one that still holds on to the branch, giving foliage to the tree. Holy is the one kept gathered and silent in the hidden veins of the trunk, preparing the distant spring. Holy is the earth that feeds the tree, and the mountainside that grows warm in the light of the sun. Holy is the sun that caresses with light the stone, the birds, and the water flowing quietly toward the resting orchards.
Holy the late flower, and the bee that drinks from it, and the honeycomb, the nectar and the honey. Holy are the houses where people live and the streets they walk along. Holy are the people who suffer and who laugh, who work or doze, who hope or despair. Our God, mystery hidden by being evident, not even the infinite temple of creation can contain you. Holy are you indeed, Lord! Fount of all holiness!
